PATRICK MALLOY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 16 to Oct. 19, 2014.
MALLOY PATRICK C.
Age 68, of Morningside, on Thursday, October 9, 2014. Beloved husband of Vikki (Murphy) Malloy; loving father of Brendan (Alyson) Malloy and Megan (Brian) Malloy-Blackmon; loving granddad to Emma and Amelia Blackmon; brother of Peter Malloy; cousin of Tom Maloy, Jim Maloy, Marg Maloy, and Paulette Maloy; also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by mother, Patricia Burke; and father, James Malloy; brothers, James Malloy, Michael Malloy, and Timothy Malloy. He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a Sex Offender Investigator and as Director of the Northside Center halfway house for male offenders. He was also a Vietnam War era veteran of the U.S. Army. Patrick will be remembered most for his strong constitution and work ethic, his advocacy for community corrections, the disabled, the civil rights of his fellow man, his love of family history and genealogy, his sarcastic wit, his love of science and technology, his love of travel, especially to Ireland (for which he held dual citizenship), and for being an avid Jeopardy fan. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Highland Park. "May the road rise up to meet him, May the wind be always at his back, May the sun shine warm upon his face, And the rain fall soft upon his fields, And until we meet again, May God hold him in the palm of his hand." Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 on Monday, October 20, 2014, at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, Lawrenceville.

We all loved Rick. It was fun to share family vacations with him and his brother Peter. They added a lot of joy to the gatherings. He was also a fighter and never gave up in spite of many health problems. We send our thoughts, love, and sympathy to Vikki, Brendan, Megan, and Peter.
Fondly,
Angela and Tom Maloy

Dear Vikki and Family

I will always carry with me such fond memories of the years I worked with Pat at the NorthSide Community Corrections Center. The friendship we began there, and the wonderful staff we worked with were a gift I will always treasure. Pat was truly dedicated to making a difference in this world and it was a priviledge to be able to work along side him for the many years we worked together. He, and all of you, will be in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time.
