Patrick had many nieces and nephews, too numerous to count on the McCaffrey and Amicon sides of the family. Patrick appreciated all the visits and phone calls from the family.
Patrick attended St. Catherine's grade school and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, class of 1954. Patrick also attended Franklin University, where he studied business and finance.
In September 1957, Patrick joined the United States Marines, where he served until September 1963. He was an aviation navigator; he had a great love of flying. One of his proudest achievements was serving his country in the Marine Corps.
Patrick was married to Sue Ann McCarrick Paige from 1957 through 1979, with whom he had his daughters, Erin, Kelly, Colleen, and Bridget.
Patrick's career included working in Banking and Finance, as well as selling Real Estate in the Columbus Area.
Patrick was also one of the founding members of St. Peter Catholic Church, Worthington, OH. He was a devout Catholic and loved the church. The Family would like to thank Deacon Phil Paulucci for being a source of friendship and spiritual guidance in the last years.
Patrick was a huge Ohio State Football fan. He would never miss a game and would rewatch the games over and over. As the 2025 football season begins, let's all join Patrick in saying "GO BUCKS"!!!
The family would like to give special thanks to Patrick's granddaughter, Casey Sagar, who spent her summer from grad school with her grandfather after the death of his wife, Joanne.
He called her his angel, and she truly was. He used to tell her every day he was polishing her halo. Casey spent a great deal of time and sometimes lived with her grandparents while attending OSU. Casey, you were everyone's angel, and your mom and aunts can't thank you enough for all your help.
We would also like to thank the team at St. Ann's Palliative Care and Hospice unit, who took the best care of Patrick during his final days. They cared for him and ensured the family was comfortable, with all their questions answered. We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Grace Ukairo. She was fantastic, not only caring for Patrick, but also was very concerned about the family and their needs. She excels at balancing end-of-life care for patients and their families.
The family wants to thank the Veterans Affairs Chalmers P. Wyle Veterans Outpatient Clinic. They were instrumental in caring for Patrick and helping the family navigate the services offered by the VA.
A very special thank you to Patrick and Joanne's friends and neighbors, Peggy and Tim Taylor. They were always so kind, bringing in meals, running errands, and just visiting with them on a daily basis. Their kindness was insurmountable.
Patrick requested that his body be donated to OSU as a cadaver for medical studies. He also requested that there be no services.
"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
