Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary PATRICK GEORGE EDWARD O'MALLEY Long time Kailua community activist passed away November 14, 2006 after a lengthy illness at the age of 71. Patrick George Edward O'Malley was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 12, 1935. Ordained to the Catholic Priesthood in 1963, Mr. O'Malley spent ten years as co-founder of the Passionist Fathers and Brothers in Korea. He earned a Masters Degree in Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii in 1972. Two years later, he married his wife Elizabeth and moved to Hawaii. From 1974-1982 Mr. O'Malley was Director of Development and Alumni Affairs for Chaminade University, Honolulu. Mr. O'Malley founded Pat's Kailua Beach Properties, a Real Estate and Property Management Firm with his wife Elizabeth. He served as President of the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association, the Kailua Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the Kailua Community Council, the Kailua Neighborhood Board, and the Windward Civilian Military Council. He served for several years as head of St. Anthony's Parish Council, and was a member of the Windward Rotary Club and the Board of Directors of the Augustine Educational Foundation. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughters Angela and Patricia, son Gregory, six brothers, two sisters, and 40 nieces and nephews. Visitation 10:30 am Saturday (Nov. 25); Memorial Mass 12:00 noon at St. Anthony's Parish in Kailua. He will be laid to rest at Hawaiian Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Augustine Educational Foundation, 6301 Pali Highway, Kaneohe, HI 96744. Donations indicated on the memo line as "Patrick and Elizabeth O'Malley Scholarship Fund" will help children pursue a Catholic education in Hawaii.
