Patsy Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2024.
Born April 20, 1948 in Mena, Arkansas, Patsy was raised in a military family that lived in multiple locations including France, Alaska, Wisconsin, and New Mexico before settling in Texarkana, Arkansas. After graduating from Arkansas High School, Patsy studied at Southern Arkansas University. From her first marriage to Frank Buchanan, Jr., she had two children, Frank and Melonie. She later wed Dr. John D. Alexander to whom she was married for over 20 years until his death in 2002.

Professionally, Patsy managed her husband Dr. Alexander's office and worked as an interior designer for many years in the Texarkana area. She volunteered her time serving various philanthropic organizations, including Texarkana's Medical Auxiliary, and was a long-time member of the Sue Sanderson Garden Club. In 2013, Patsy relocated to Longview to be near her grandchildren. There she became an active member of the Longview Duplicate Bridge Club and dearly loved her time with this group of friends.

Patsy enjoyed travel, especially if it included an opportunity to spend time with her family or support her grandchildren in their athletic endeavors. She loved flowers, gardening, playing bridge, coffee, and Bluebell ice cream. She relished entertaining, hosting friends and family for wonderful meals, and had an instinctive gift for making spaces beautiful. Most of all, Patsy loved and was so proud of her children and grandchildren.

Patsy is preceded in death by her mother Hazel Hooper Bergerson, father Ottis Hooper, husband John D. Alexander, sister Betty (Hooper) Henderson, and nephew Curtis Obal, Jr. She is survived by her children Frank Buchanan III (Ashleigh Buchanan, spouse) and Melonie Buchanan Murray (Steven Murray, spouse), grandchildren Bronwyn Buchanan and Frank "Buck" Buchanan IV, sister Bobbi Obal (Curtis Obal, spouse), and nieces and nephews Amy (Henderson) Arnold, Melissa (Henderson) Davis Mathews, Todd Henderson, Nadine (Obal) Schwegal, and Elizabeth (Obal) Sharp.

The family invites those who knew and loved Patsy to a celebration of life event at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas on Saturday April 6, 2024 starting 2pm.
