Patsy Joan (Byers) Barton

Patsy (Pat) Joan (Byers) Barton, aged 83, passed away on November 4, 2024, in Lewiston, Maine. Pat was born on March 4, 1941, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Patsy, affectionately known as Pat, dedicated much of her life to her family and community. Pat had been a resident of Maine for the past five years. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1959.

Pat initially embraced the role of a homemaker, nurturing her children and leading a local Girl Scout troop. As her children grew, she transitioned to the workforce, where she served as a bank teller before concluding her career at Sears Department Store. Pat had a passion for genealogy and traveling, exploring her family roots and experiencing new cultures and places. Shortly before her death, she took her dream vacation, an Alaskan Cruise.

Pat is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bruce Barton, they married October 23, 1960; daughters, Lynn Barton and Shari (Kevin) Harrell; her kitty, Ms. Kitty; special daughters, Leah (Clark) McCall and Yolanda Richardson; best friends, Bette Ehmcke and Phyllis Griffis; nephews and nieces Bob (Becky) Barton, Steven (Patty) Eikelman, Roger (Lisa Elkins) Miller, Mark (Heidi Olsen) Ekelman, Dale Miller, Fred (Sandra) Eikelman, and Lora Miller as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Byers and Dovie (Jennings) Byers; sisters, Nancy Eikelman and Marilyn Miller; and brothers-in-laws, Robert (Bob) Barton, James Micheal (Mike) Miller and Paul Eikelman.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future. In keeping with Pat's wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be returned to her family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting those wishing to honor Pat's memory may consider a contribution to the American Sleep Apnea Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
