Patsy Carnahan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2024.
Patsy Ruth Carnahan, 88, of MOUNT DORA, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1936, in Arista, West Virginia.

Patsy grew up in the mountains of West Virginia in the small coal mining town of Arista. She always had a bright smile and a wonderful laugh for everyone. Patsy attended Marshall University, where she met the love of her life, Brad Carnahan, whom she later married. They moved to Miami, Florida, in 1959. Patsy dedicated her early years of marriage to raising their four children and being involved in youth sports alongside her husband. She pursued a Home Economics degree when her children were older and began a fulfilling career at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, as a transplant coordinator to secure tissue for corneal transplants.
She later became the Director of Volunteer Services where she implemented many changes that helped elevate the patient experience.

Patsy was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was her top priority, and her warmth and care touched the lives of many. She is survived by her son, Brad Carnahan (Loretta), daughters Vicki Carnahan Tracy and Kathleen Carnahan Fetzer (Jeff), eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Melville G. Jones, mother, Ruth Jones, brother, M.G.( Jerry) Jones, husband, Bradford Wayne Carnahan, son, Daniel G. Carnahan, grandson, Jesse Carnahan and great-grandson Bradley Frederick Carr.

Patsy Ruth Carnahan's life will be celebrated at a family gathering where love and memories will be shared. As she liked to say " Don't Worry Be Happy"
She will be incredibly missed by her family as well as the many lives she touched.

How on earth can you sum up one´s life with words or pictures?

You can´t. But one thing is for certain my grandmother lived such an amazing life. My heart is so broken right now. Everything I´ve learned about family was shown to me by my grandmother and big daddy. She loved so fiercely and she was absolutely the strongest woman that I have ever seen. She always was such a light to anyone that met her.

Her and my grandfather gave us so many amazing memories growing up. Between Disney trips, holidays at their house in Miami and in Mount Dora, grandma´s Thanksgiving dinners - my heart just aches.

You are back in the arms of the love of your life. My bigdaddy.

It comforts me knowing that you are there with Bradley holding him extra tight. Let him know how much I miss him each day and how loved he is.

I love you more than you will ever know, grandma. Everything you taught us about love, family and strength i will always bring forward to the front lines of my life.

Mom.... you are loved and missed more than words can express. My only solace is knowing that you are with Dad. We will find it difficult moving forward as a family without you lovingly guiding us. However, you and Dad taught us the importance of family. I will never forget the beautiful memories that I will carry with me forever.Rest in Peace
