Patsy Head Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 24 to Jun. 26, 2023.
Hermitage- On June 23, 2023, Patsy June Bateman Head, 89, of Hermitage, TN, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband, Billy Head, and all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at her side.

Patty was born in Nashville, TN on September 10, 1933, to Clarence and Bessie Mae Bateman. She attended Isaac Litton High School, class of 1952.

In 1947, Patty met Billy Head through Youth Inc. They were married for 71 years. It is well known that the minute Billy saw Patty he told his friend, "I'm going to marry that girl". As an only child, she experienced a loneliness that she swore she would not impose on her offspring...and, good to her word, she had six children: Mike Head (Theda nee Wayman), Valerie Head, Dr. Steven Head (Kay), Suzy Head Knight (Bill), Lisa Head and Lori Head Wilson (Jim). They have 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren!

She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Billy Head, and children.

Patty has been a full-time devoted wife and mother. She was a chef, seamstress, chauffeur, den mother, gardener, band mother, therapist, and nurse.

In a word, Patty was a nurturer and adventurer. She loved going to baseball games with her daddy. She and Billy thrived in their life of travel. She was the best Southern cook. If you got lucky, you'd have eaten her apricot-fried pies and homemade biscuits served warm with fried chicken and all the fixings. She could snatch up a 4-leaf clover in no time. She adored Elvis and Tina Turner. She knew every song by the Bee Gees and loved to sing Sweet Caroline with the family. In the 80's she hung a poster of Mark Spitz in his Speedo in her laundry room. She loved rabbits. She loved Destin Florida. She loved Billy Head like nobody's business.

She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family and friends. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity and was full of love for those around her. She will be missed dearly.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, from 3-6 pm at Donelson Church of Christ.

I had the pleasure of meeting Patty as I knew her at a family gathering, right away she just fit right in. Patty just seemed to become one of the family along with Billy. I consider myself very fortunate and lucky to have met Patty a true southern lady one that was always kind, gracious and just a sweet lady. She will be missed.
