Patsy M. Turner

I think of Patsy Turner often as she and I often corresponded with each other. I became acquainted with her through my brother Joseph Donald Stanek. We were first cousins with Patsy´s sister-in-law, Rosemary Magee. Through our correspondence I learned of her bravery, determination and devotion to freedom and democracy. I often encouraged her to write a book detailing her life so that others would learn of her adventures abroad in the service of our country. Patsy Turner was an accomplished woman, dedicated wife and wonderful mother. And most importantly to me, she was a good friend.

Susan, Kathleen, Andy, David please accept my condolence. I got to know your mom through my brother, Joe Don Stanek. Joe Don had been injured in an accident and was confined to a wheelchair. He became friends with Kathleen and subsequently Mrs. Turner. I was fortunate to meet Mrs. Turner on one occasion when I was visiting my brother. We immediately became friends and correspondents through the years. She attended my brothers funeral in 1988. Then in 2009, she graciously invited me and my son Joseph to her home in Springfield where she served us a homemade apple pie. She was so much fun and delightful to visit with. She has more interesting experiences than most people ever dream of. I did my best to convince her to write a book about her life. It would have been a best seller. Wow! What a lady! What a legacy. What a mother. She loved you all so much. I never met any of you (although I did talk to Kathleen on the phone), but through your mother, feel like I know each of you. God bless each of you.

Patsy was perfect for the libraries and literacy was the winner! An accomplished, gracious woman, her loss will be felt keenly.

I worked with Pat at Yates, Mauck, Bohrer and Elliff in the early 80s. She was smart, kind and funny as a stitch, with a heart for all. She did much good for many and she will be missed.

I am Pat's cousin (My father was Robert Magee), and I am so sorry to hear of Pat's death. I looked forward each year to our Christmas correspondence, and catching up on family and activities. When I was doing family research she helped me immeasurably by sharing stories and information. My grandson, Liam, was thrilled to read Pat's father, Russel's stories about the war, and incorporated them into his school project.
Pat was a lovely, intelligent and unique person, and will be sorely missed.

Pat was one of my dearest friends in Springfield during my years teaching at Kickapoo. She was also a P.E.O. sister in Chapter IA. She was a generous hostess, a confidant & a fountain of wisdom & strength at a difficult time in my life. I treasure her friendship, intelligence , kindness & endless compassion.

I've met you all in the past and spoken to Andy and Susan through out the years. I am Bob's nephew. I only new Pat from family settings, but always looked forward to and enjoyed our discussions about her life! She was always so interested to ask about mine. One of the most gracious ladies I've met! My prayers go out to her and all of you.

Pat, her brother Bob, and her mother & father were neighbors of ours in the early 1930's. They were an extremely fine family. We had a close relationship with them.

I knew Pat from when I managed the Fremont theatre in Springfield. We played most of Kathleen's movies and Pat always came to the premiers. We even crowned Pat homecoming queen when we played Peggy Sue Got Married. Pat was a lovely, lovely lady. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family and friends.

Susan, Andy, Kathleen, David...I am so sorry for your loss. I'm Betty Mulford's daughter Julie and I saw your mom at Mom's funeral in June. She wrote me such a nice note about playing together as children. I have fond memories of visiting your grandparent's farm off Cherry, too. IMPORTANT...In Mom's stuff I found a wonderful set of letters from your mom that your grandmother typed in the 1940's. She was in DC getting ready go to China and then first got there. Then your grandfaterh joined her. It's over 100 pages reads like a novel. I read it word for word and couldn't put it down. She was both brave and a great writer. I want to get that to one of you assuming you don't have a copy. This looks like an original. Unfortunately we will be out of town starting tomorrow. Mrs. Turner was one of the most gracious ladies I have known. It was a joy to serve on the Dogwood Trails Board of Directors with her. She always had a beautiful smile and heart for serving others. My sincere sympathy to her family. Heaven has a new angel.

Patsy was one of my favorite Access Express riders always look forward taking her to the beauty salon very sorry for her passing.

What a wonderfully intellectual and interesting lady who was a pleasure to meet and work with through the library district. She has left a wonderful legacy. Our condolences to the family.

Pat was a good friend when we were both legal secretaries during the 1980's in Springfield. We often lunched together and I was always impressed that someone with such a worldly background could be so practical and down-to-earth. She was a great lady!

Bill and I knew Pat when she worked in the law office and our insurance office was in Plaza Towers. She was always friendly with a smile on her face. We remember her fondly.

Pat was a patient of mine at our dental office. She was such a sweet lady & I enjoyed visiting with her each time I saw her. She will be dearly missed.

You will always live in our hearts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Pat when she would come to Creekside to visit. She was lovely, fun, and a true lady. My condolences to the family.
