Patsy Wheeler

1928 - 2016

Patsy D. Wheeler of Fort Worth passed away peacefully in Muenster on the morning of Friday, Dec. 23, 2016. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Methodist Church. Burial follows in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Funeral Home, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, North Richland Hills. Patsy was born in Rising Star on Oct. 20, 1928, to Lois and Jack King. Her dad passed when she was 3 and she was raised by her loving stepfather, Marion Gaw. During World War II, the family, including brothers Jack and Fred, relocated to Fort Worth. She graduated from North Side High School in 1946. She was married twice and had two daughters, Kay and Jan. Patsy had a successful career as a bank officer for many years. She served as Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1965. She enjoyed playing bridge and was quite accomplished at it with several tournament wins. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Methodist Church in Haltom City. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, J.H. "Midge" Wheeler and her two brothers, Jack and Fred King. Survivors: She is survived by daughters, Kay Malaise and Jan Spakes; grandchildren, Mike, Chris and Matt Malaise and Shanelle Starnes; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Malaise, Isabella Starnes and Josie Malaise; and both sisters-in-law, Joan and Harlene King.
