Interment followed at Hurricane Cemetery in Hurricane Community; LA. Visitation was at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m.
Patsy was born April 4, 1938, in Haynesville, LA, to H. Delton and Ketura Lay Scarborough. She entered into rest on Monday, August 14, 2023, in Shreveport, LA. Patsy was very outgoing, even racing go-carts in the early 1960’s where she participated in the U.S. Nationals at Green Valley Raceway near Dallas, TX. She also enjoyed boating, fishing, and waterskiing on Lake Claiborne. Patsy loved traveling to the white sand beaches of Panama City Beach, FL, with her family. Patsy had two sons, both whom raced dirt bike motorcycles where Patsy became affectionally known as “Pit Mom.” Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church of Homer for over 60 years where she served her Lord. She graduated from Haynesville High School in 1956 where she was a drum majorette for the Haynesville Golden Tornado Marching Band. Patsy met her future husband, Rex Young, in Haynesville after he graduated from Barber School in Shreveport. They married a year later and moved to Homer.
Professionally, Patsy was one of the early working moms where she started working for Ludlow Manufacturing Plant in Homer as a receptionist at the age of 20. She held several different positions, including Custom Service, Custom Service Manager, Credit Manager, and finally, the role of Credit Manager for the South region. Patsy eventually retired from Ludlow in 2003 after 44 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lannie Scarborough.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Rex Jarrell Young; two sons, Michael Rex Young and wife Karlin of McKinney, TX, and Marty Todd Young and wife Laura of Hot Springs, AR; five grandchildren, Tara Michelle Young, Ryan Michael Young, Alec Todd Young, Jill Lynn Young and Julia Grace Young; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Scott Moreland, Billy Lafitte, Ralph Young, Jr., James Spillers, and Michael Young.
Honorary pallbearers were Nelson Philpot and Alf Pike.
In lieu of flowers honoring Patsy, her family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Homer.
