Paul and Mary Hardin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 30, 2024.
With grief in our hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Paul Hardin, on May 21, 2024 and our beloved mother, Mary Hardin, on May 19, 2024 while they were serving as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Paul Curtis Hardin, born on February 18, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri, embodied kindness and compassion throughout his life's journey. His dedication to serving others was one of his defining characteristics and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. For many years he worked at Brigham Young University as a senior project manager to enhance various aspects of the campus facilities. Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His genuine care for his family as well as all those he encountered was one of his characteristics that defined his life and left a lasting impact on all who met him.

Mary Evelyn Christiansen Hardin was born on March 26, 1959 in Logan, Utah. Her most cherished heritage was her eleven children, most of whom she homeschooled. Mary was an amazing woman who was a lifelong learner, an avid gardener, and one who dedicated much of her life in service to her family. She loved to gather her kids around the piano to sing rousing songs whenever she could wrangle them. Despite having many children and grandchildren, she never missed their birthdays, and was infamous for sending them glitter bomb love notes in the mail. Mary was also deeply involved in her community, volunteering at many different local organizations including the forest service, the garden club and the Methodist church. Her warmth and empathy touched everyone she met. Mary and Paul both served as a full-time missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hawaii, Texas, and most recently in Fresno, California.

Paul and Mary married on August 23, 1978 at Oakland California Temple, and shared 45 wonderful years together. Their marriage was a testimony to their unwavering love, commitment, mutual respect, and shared values. They raised 10 children and adopted 1 more - Anna (Hardin) Nielsen, Benjamin Hardin, Charity (Hardin) Zincke, Toshinori Fukui, Daniel Hardin, Elisabeth Anona (Hardin) Striker, Ammon Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Rachel Hardin, Enoch Hardin, and Joseph Hardin - and are mourned by their brothers and sisters as well as a large extended family and many dear friends.

They leave behind a legacy of love, generosity, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew them.

A joint memorial service celebrating their lives will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 13153 Iron Horse Way, Helotes, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

I grew up in Kirkwood with Paul and his family. Was in Boy scouts with him He is and always will be an awesome individual from one of the best families I have ever been honored to know and love. His parents Guy and Letha were best friends with my Parents A.L. and Lorene Tidlund.. May the entire Hardin family be comforted at this tragic time, but that you will NEVER get over it but you will get through it all my love for now and eternity
