Paul Bergquist of Upper Saddle River Paul was born on October 8th 1919 in Spokane, Washington. In 1942 he received a degree in electrical engineering from Washington State University. Paul Died on August 22nd at the age of 96. He served as a radar officer in World War II and was stationed on the Intrepid when it was heavily damaged by two Japanese Kamikaze Planes minutes apart. During his four years in the Navy he was awarded a Bronze Star. At War's conclusion he joined a television consulting firm in Washington D.C., where he met and married Mary, a Congressional employee from Oklahoma. In 1953 Paul began a twenty three year career with Radio Corporation of America, concluding his employment as engineering manager for development of a portable photo journalism camera. During these years the family of three children grew up in Haddonfield, New Jersey. In 1976 Paul was appointed President of Philips Broadcast Equipment Corporation in Mahwah, New Jersey, and served in this position until retirement. Surviving are his wife Mary Wingate Bergquist and three children, Ms. Beth Bergquist of Delray Beach, Florida, Mr. Paul Bruce Bergquist of Tucson, Arizona, and Dr. Barry Bergquist of Salt Lake City, Utah. A nephew Gerald Bergquist, lives in Spokane, Washington. The grandchildren, all of Salt Lake City, are Mary E. Bergquist, John L. Bergquist and Jacob M. Bergquist.
