Paul Biegel

We mourn the passing of Mr. Paul Biegel of New York, New York who died on October 3, 2023. Paul was a holocaust survivor, who was born in Vienna in 1930 and moved to the United States in 1940. He was a graduate of Baruch College of City University and New York University School of Law. Paul had a long successful career in finance and was a valued mentor to multiple generations of business leaders and entrepreneurs. Paul was a world traveler, loved the beach, reading, and music, and was a generous contributor to Jewish charities, notably the American Friends of ANU (formerly, Beit Hatfusot). He had a big and ready laugh, made a perfect egg cream, and lived for his family, who will miss him dearly.

Paul is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nedra; his daughter Dr. Jaclyn Biegel, her husband Dr. James Harper, and their two children Rabbi Vanessa Harper, married to Cantor Joshua Rosenberg, and Marissa Harper, married to Maxwell Newfield; his son Bruce Biegel, his wife Wendy, and his two daughters, Jillian and Sarah Biegel. Paul's daughter Suzanne Biegel predeceased him in September 2023.
