Paul Buchignani Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2025.
MEMPHIS - Paul P. Buchignani, Sr., 85, passed away May 30, 2025, after a long illness. A lifelong Memphian and a true renaissance man, he was born on May 3, 1940. He spent the majority of his professional life in construction sales, and he was also a skilled carpenter who not only refinished and refurbished older furniture pieces, but also designed his own pieces and made exquisite carvings and designed and built lighting fixtures. He was a Master Gardener and a member of the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council, volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Memphis, and was a voracious reader who loved to discuss books and ideas. Paul was a devout Catholic and was involved with the Men's Club, Fishers of Men, and RCIA at his longtime home parish of St. Louis Catholic Church. More than all that, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Margaret Weber Buchignani, his brothers Rev. Richard Buchignani and Msgr. Peter P. Buchignani (his twin), and his beloved wife, Mary Dinah Hunter Buchignani. He is survived by his brother, Albert Buchignani (Linda) of Florida; sister, Margaret Buchignani of Memphis; daughter, Mary Buchignani Hemphill (John); son, Paul P. Buchignani II; and grandson, Nicolai Buchignani, all of Memphis. Thank you especially to his caregiving team from Baptist Trinity Hospice and Reynolds Hospice House. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 28, at 10:00 am St. Louis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Memphis or the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council.
