BYICH – Paul Joseph "Kiz," 78, Nanty Glo, passed away April 18, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 23, 1930, in Nanty Glo, son of the late Peter and Mary (Grant) Byich. Preceded in death by wife, Louise (Fuller) Byich; brother, Louis; and sister, Mary Mihalic. Survived by daughters, Carol (Edward) Williamson and Doreen (William) Sackie, both of Nanty Glo; grandchildren: Michael, Sheri and Mark; and eight great-grandchildren. Brother of Millie (Mike) Fenchak, Nanty Glo; Peter (JoAnn), Nanty Glo; and Sam (Marsha), Ohio. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Mary Sanderson. Member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Nanty Glo. Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army. Member of Nanty Glo American Legion and VFW. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. Paul was an umpire for Nanty Glo Little League for many years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where Parastas will be held at 6 that evening. A brief service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, the Rev. Monsignor Raymond Balta. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Military rites by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to Home Nursing Agency, Ebensburg.
