Gosh, a voice, like that of a beautiful orchestra, that I grew up with. I really never knew his face. What a beautiful soul God gave to the world and then called him back home. Thank you for those radio Melody memories in my growing up years. They still live in my mind. Love forever!

My first memory is Paul Davis is hearing his voice singing "I Go Crazy" not long after it came out in the radio. I was hooked. He was a genius, but was almost a secret treasure. I was a young wife and mother of 2, and we didn´t have money for concerts then, but I´m 70 now and I regret I didn´t get to hear him in concert.

I remember sitting beside him at the piano in The Malaco studio in Jackson, MS & him singing & playing. That day, he sang a song " My Lovely Autumn Love" for me & I fell in love with that song. It was recorded by a Meridian artist, Karen Sansone. It means so much to me. I will always hold a "SPECIAL" place in my heart for this beautiful, wonderful, loving man & the song that touched me so deeply. I can still hear his voice as he sang it for me.

I know this has taken me a while to let everyone know how I feel about one of the best singer and song writers their is.. There is just something so special about a SOUTHERN MAN.. They just don't make them any where as GOOD.. I 'm just a fan that is so sad and upset over losing a WONDERFUL PERSON and not having the chance to go and see him. And miss out on new songs and music from him..It is so very true about what they say you don't know what you have till it's gone...I just LOVE southern singers and he was the BEST..Even though I live in Colorado my family is all from Bentonville,ARK. and I will retire there soon..A day dosen't go by that I don't listen to PAUL.. My heart felt condolences to his family and all his fans.. We're all hurting now.. He should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if he isn't ? I hope he will be.. We should ALL work to that end.. Well I feel a tad bit better having let everyone know this FAN will always LOVE his work and the Mississippi man behind it. You should All be proud of making him what he was. He had a piece of all of you in him. Which created his music... and him..... THANKS for PAUL DAVIS the world will MISS HIM

... Some years ago (longer than I care to admit), I was stuck in the Los Angeles Airport, trying to get a connecting flight back home. I popped a cassette tape in my player that was loaned from my guitar player...and the first song up was "Cool Night", which had barely hit the charts at the time. Well, I listened intently to the beautifully sung lyrics (which were very meaningful to me at the time), and thought that this was the most beautiful piece of contemporary music ever written. Then and there, I became a big fan...in fact, I wrote out all the lyrics to that song, as well as "65 Love Affair", right there on the spot. And I couldn't wait to get back to my band rehearsals to try and make my Prophet-5 synth sound as sweet as Paul's did in that album.
Well, a lot of time has passed since I discovered Paul's music...but nobody else since has seemed to my ears to combine the smooth soft style elements in quite that way. I always hoped that he would bust open the charts again with more of this eloquent musical style of his.
In reading all of the memories of him from friends, acquaintances, and family, it becomes quite apparent that he was indeed the gentle, loving person that his music directly reflected, which seems to me why he would leave the cold, hectic pace of the music recording world in Atlanta/Nashville to go back home to Meridian, where life was warm and real to him. God bless him for having that kind of courage and integrity. I really wish that I could have met the man in person.
My sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who loved him. I know a person's life is reflected by those friends that we make here on this earth in such a short time, and that God holds a special place of love and honor for them eternally. Paul, I know that you are reaping the benefits of all the people that you loved and influenced here on earth. Bless you...

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul a few times when he lived in
Atlanta, besides his beautiful voice, what I recall most vividly is his sweet, gentle & very humble spirit; there are many performers today with little talent yet huge egos, he struck me as the complete opposite, my heart goes out to all who were close to him.

I loved the way Paul asked his audience in Lincoln Center, NYC, "Do you mind if I smoke?" So gifted, funny, so humble. I thank God for his sweet life and beautiful music. To the family of Paul Davis -

I offer my deepest heartfelt condolences on the tremendous loss of the very unique Paul Davis. He was not only the talented writer and singer we all knew and loved, but also an enormously humble, unpretentious, kind, and loving human being. His songs and his voice will continue to provide joy to so many who he has left behind. I pray that the pain of your loss will ease with time. Perhaps the knowledge that Paul's soul is now lending its beauty to the heavenly choir will help lessen the grief we all feel. May G-d bless you and continue to make each day we live a sweet life.

Friends and family of Paul Davis, You have my most heartfelt condolences and prayers. Paul was such a gift to all of us. I know that he was much more than just a few popular songs playing on the radio, great songs though they were. I've enjoyed them since the 70s. Paul must have been a kind, gentle, and reflective man. I can just feel that coming through, listening to his music. Times like these, make it hard to trust in the Lord. But we must continue to pray for His guidance and love. Paul, may God bless your family and friends keeping them always in His tender care.
