Diane, Bobby and Tommy,
I just read about your parents in the Ligonier Echo. I am so sad to hear of their passing. But I know they are up there in heaven, having lemon pie and talking up a storm, with my parents.

I saw Coach Derrickson for the first time since 1969 at my mom's funeral. I remeber telling everyone that was there that it was the first conversation he and I had where he didn't yell at me. He was a very good man. Thanks Coach. RIP

Diane,my condolences to you and the boys. I have very fond memories of your mom and dad and family. I especially remember a pair of low cuts arriving at Parris Island and explaining them to the D.I.

TO: Diane, Bobby and families

My sympathy to all of you as you mourn the loss of your father. I played football and basketball under Coach D and respected his leadership and commitment to winning. I was "in his family" when I dated his niece Carol. And my parents were social friends to Paul and Tippy for many years; so I knew him and admired him from many perspectives. I share your loss and will miss him truly.

Tom

Sorry to hear about your loss of your dad. I have a lot of memories of your dad growing up "trying" to keep you in line but he obviously did a good job. My most vivid memory as a kid was how tan he would get running the Greentree pool. He influenced so many people He will be missed

Deepest sympathy

I played baseball for Coach "D" in the late 60's and 1970. Not only was he a great coach, he could still play the game as well as any of us. I will never forget him pitching batting practice; he had a wicked nuckle ball that would rival a major league pitcher. He was a fierce competitor who didn't like to lose. He wasn't real big, but I remember he was a running back for a Division I college, Michigan State if I recall. He taught me much about sports and life. Strength, integrity, caring, excellent teacher. Pappa D was all of those things! RIP.

TO: Bob and Family

My sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your father. As I was growing up in Crafton Coach was a mentor to me. In Health class, in P.E. classes and on the football field he was one of the best in the Pittsburgh area.
He had a good long life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I was fortunate in having Mr. Derrickson as a teacher and have fond recollections of his classes, be it gym or health class. Most vivid memory was 7th grade health class when he worked so diligently in trying to get us to learn the bones of the skeletal system - mandible, carpals, tarsals, clavical, humerus, PHALANGES!!...

Prayers, thoughts and deepest condolances to friends and family.
