We only met Paul and Connie a few years ago, but, as brief as our exposure to and friendship with Paul was, we see it as a blessing to have met and conversed with a true "Renaissance Man". May his memory be a blessing! Alan and Nevart Asadoorian

With condolences Diane to you and your family. Your father had such a full and varied life. I am amazed at his speaking Turkish!
All good wishes for you and the family in the days ahead.

Dr Ellner was my boss in the Microbiology lab at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Then he became my mentor in the Clinical Microbiology program at Columbia. He was the father of my dear friend Diane, so I continued to know him for 50 years or so. Dr. Ellner taught me how to do research. He taught me how to give a professional presentation. The skills he taught me really changed the trajectory of my career and my life professionally. The world has lost a brilliant man, my friend Diane has lost her father, and so many of us who were his graduate students have lost a lifelong mentor. God bless you, Dr. Ellner.
