Paul Foust Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 1, 2025.
Paul Foust Jr., known to many as "Jim," "Jimmy," or "Big Bopper," passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 19, 1941, in New Market, Tennessee, Jim was the son of Paul and Grace (Atkins) Foust.

Jim was an avid fan of Western movies. He had a passion for old cars, especially hot rods. Jim built many cars in his lifetime, specifically a 1951 Mercury custom that he loved. Jim could frequently be found in his garage, accompanied by his favorite oldies music, messing around with cars, fixing things, and sharing his talents with others. Jim also loved to fish the Detroit River for walleye, Lake Saint Clair for perch, or his fish-filled pond in Sparta, Tennessee.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Bezaire) Vinson-Foust; his sister Mary (Ed) Colasanti; his children Rebecca Foust, Robert "JJ" (Misty) Foust, Joe Foust, and Lisa Morgan-Vinson; as well as 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Grace Foust; his son, David Foust; his brother, Dewey Foust; and his sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Whiteaker and Dorothy (Lloyd) Hopper. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dogs Dixie and Diamond.

Jim's legacy endures through the cherished memories shared by all who knew him. His kindness and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. A service to celebrate Jim's life will take place in the spring; details will be announced.

RIP (Paul Foust) Jim Stanley. I first met you in 1972. You were always good people to me. God speed on your heavenly journey to be with our Savior forever and ever. I'll never forget your final visit to me here. Remember? You, your late brother Dewey, and my late bro Danny all stopped by to see me in 1994. Then I drove us all around out in the country as we sipped a few beers like it was the old days. Joe, your Dad was amazing. So was your Uncle Dewey. May they both continue Resting in Peace...
