My sympathy to Paul's family. Thank you, Dave for letting me know of your Dad's passing. Paul and I were boyhood friends during our growing up years in Soldier, IA where his father was our longtime pastor. Paul enjoyed coming out to our farm and also visiting the farms of other farmers, esp. Henry and Sarah Norby. Paul and I were in Boy Scouts together. I have photos when we were at Boy Scout camp together at the Lake of 3 Fires. When we were very young boys I remember the confusion when Pastor Hoff would say, "and Paul said....." and I couldn't imagine Paul, a year younger than I was, saying something so profound! Pastor Hoff saying "Saint Paul" didn't help much either. Pastor Hoff was my confirmation pastor so I had learned to make the distinction! Both Paul and I ended up being teachers. God has blessed me with many wonderful memories of Paul as he has with Paul's children and grandchildren.

Paul was a great neighbor and a wonderful father to the four of you. I enjoyed spending many hours at the Hoff house growing up and I always felt welcome there. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Hello, from Eau Claire. My heart drops as I read your father's obituary. I know Paul had a steady decline with Parkinson's Disease, seeing him out in the yard while on my bike rides through the neighborhood. That being only several years ago. Of course, we go wayyyyy back to the Suzuki days. What a fine human being and an inspiration to me now. Memories not only of "violin-life" with Jennett for ten (10) years with him in the background, but of his talk of goose hunting with my dad. I also have a clear memory of him in the Math Department at Central Junior High when I was a student there. I will visit the Cities for a celebration of his life and see you, Ruth, Dan, David, and Susan. Perhaps a shortly delayed visit would be appropriate when you are less overwhelmed with friends and relatives, so we can have more significant conversation and "catch up". I love you all.
