Paul Jagger Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Apr. 7, 2012.
October 31, 1921 - April 2, 2012 Paul passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Born in Yorkshire, England Paul and his family immigrated to Canada in 1927 and settled in West Vancouver. His long relationship with the Kits Boys Band began while in school there. He graduated from UBC in Mechanical Engineering in 1944. Paul proudly served as First Lieutenant in the Canadian Army 1943-1944. After working for the Barrett Company, he bought his own manufacturing business in 1957. Upon retirement he began a second career as a musician - organizing and playing in several musical combos as well as participating in Kits Boys Band reunion concerts.

Paul was an avid outdoor sportsman, racquets player and golfer. He was a member of the Shaughnessy Golf Club and the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club.

He will be deeply missed by his three children Brian (Sheila), Nancy and Catherine, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and sisters Kathleen and Barbara. He was predeceased by his first wife Trudy (nee Livingston) and is survived by his second wife Vera Delamont.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012, 2pm-4pm at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club.

The music may have stopped, but his song will not be forgotten.

I remember my great-uncle Paul visiting my parents' house north of Toronto with my grandmother, Kay Church (his sister), some years ago. He was buoyant and full of vitality. He performed a song about a lion that had all of us in stitches. What a great spirit. When I was much younger, I happily received copies of his genealogical work on the Jagger family, which I still have. These impressive documents inspired a life-long interest in genealogy (I am kalbrock1 on ancestry.ca) -- thank you Paul.
