Paul Leland Jones, age 86, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 20, 2010, at Risen Son.

Paul was born May 5, 1924, in Council Bluffs, to C. Lloyd and Theresa C. Petersen Jones and graduated from Mondamin High School. Paul served in the the U.S. Navy Seabee's during World War II and for 21 years worked as a Clerk with the US Postal Service. Memberships include Woodland Community Church and NARF, where he served as their past president.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Nora (Skelton); and his sister, Jeanne Strong.

Paul is survived by daughter Suzzane Walker, of Council Bluffs; grandson, Michael Torgerson and Denise; granddaughter, Mindy and Matt; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Wilson, of Council Bluffs, Mary Lou Kirk, of Modesto, Calif.; nieces, nephews, special cousins, Doris Rule, Roger Olsen; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Carol Rayburn, of Honey Creek.

Visitation Thursday, July 22, 2010, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Friday, 11 a.m., also at the chapel. Rev. Jim Henry, Woodland Community Church, officiant. Interment Branson Cemetery with military rites tendered by American Legion Post 2. Lunch will follow at Woodland Community Church. Memorials to Woodland Community Church and Northcrest Care's new entry.

So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I have fond memories of many conversations with him. I considered him a good, good, friend. I will miss his smile. My condolences to the family.
