Thank you for taking care of my Grandma Inez. Even when she was no longer your patient you never turned her away. She loved you so as does the rest of my family!

I was very saddened to hear of Doctor Jurgensen's passing.
He literally saved my life 43 years ago. I had my appendix rupture which caused an abscess to spread throughout my body, with two bugs that no drug could handle. Lucky for me, with his expertise and knowledge, he was able to contact the CDC in Atlanta and convince them to fly in experimental Intravenous Clindamycin.
If not for him, I nor my two beautiful children would not be here.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was a patient of Paul's for years and considered him a special friend as well as my personal physician. My most recent contact with him was during the time we played softball together with the Old Timer's team. Those were fun days and I will always remember them fondly.
Nancy and I will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely,

Like so many others, I will always cherish the talks in the doctors' lounge, stories of his crazy days at Benedictine, his grandchildren, and sports. A brilliant and passionate family man, physician, and a true gentleman.

Dr. Jurgensen was able to teach during the latter stage of his career. After three decades as a member of our medical staff, in 2011, Dr. Jurgensen returned as a general Internal Medicine faculty member. It was a time we most needed him. His vast knowledge and experience was valued as our residents and students benefited from his educational prowess. HIs contribution to the improvement of our Internal Medicine teaching program was noteworthy.
We will miss him.

Mrs. Jurgensen, Margaret, Paul, Stephen and Neil,
This morning I woke up to the news that Mr. Jurgensen's passing. I am very sorry for your loss and our family's thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
I have many good memories of Mr. Jurgensen including Paul's favorite; Weber, good to see you and good to know that you could smell a free beer all the way from Meridian Mississippi. He had a great sense of humor and was always very kind to me while I was at Tech and far away from my parents on the west coast.
He will be missed by so many people in so many places.
God Bless,
Bruce, Kristin, Maxwell, and Louis

Most of the Nurses who worked at Memorial back in Dr. Jurgensen's heyday remember that he loved to teach and was quick to commend 'excellent nursing care' as his patients got better.
'PJ' as most of us referred to him was a legend, with many colorful and interesting stories that we will recall.
Now he belongs to the Ages.
Peace and Joy, Doc!

Like a colossus, and we petty men
Walk under his huge legs and peep about."

In Paul's leaving Savannah medicine will never be the same. Those of us who practiced with Paul were humbled and glad we had the chance.
With love and sorrow for Paul's family and close friends.

So sorry to hear about Paul's passing. I was just talking about him last week and the information he shared with me on the Beaufort Naval Hospital's Civil War sites. Always enjoyed the round table meetings and dinners.

I have had the honor and privilege to have known Dr. Paul Jurgensen for over twenty years as a fellow member of the Sinn Fein Society of Savannah. He was truly a man of great compassion and deep intellect as well as being quick with a joke or light hearted observation. His presence will be greatly missed, especially on Saint Patrick's Day, by myself and all who knew him as a man of faith and deep insight.
God speed Paul.

Christ said, "Well done my good and faithful servant." That applies to Jug, and as a friend and former classmate, "Well done, Jug."

Paul was one of the most impressive individuals I could ever hope to meet: a stalwart man of strong, honest and considerate principles. This was a man you always wanted to be in your corner. He could always, always, be counted on. I am proud to have known him. He was the prime example of the tenet of leaving the world better for having lived in it. We are all much poorer at his passing. May God bless him and his family and may God rest his soul. We'll see you again.

I will truly miss this fine physician and a man that was a true southern gentleman. He was always so kind to me and expressed gratitude readily. Getting a thank you or a compliment from Dr. J, who never forgot to thank those that did something he was appreciative of, was always such a blessing for me. I am glad to have had to opportunity to know this fine man and to have had an opportunity to interact with him during my time at Memorial. He had a great influence on many young doctors in training and his legacy will carry on through those that he helped to train and mentor. My condolences to Diane and all of his family. As you know, Dr. J will be missed, and never, never forgotten!

He was a very special man. One of a kind. He was a fantastic Doctor, and he was a wonderful teacher. I considered him a mentor, and learned a great deal from him as a resident, and later a partner. He raised the bar in everyway, and he will be missed. I was very lucky to have known him, and I will forever cherish my memories of him.RIP JUGA!
