Paul "Fred" Kurtz

Paul "Fred" Kurtz, age 70, of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 26, 1947 to Paul E. and Rose R. (Kaczmarek) Kurtz. Fred was a 1965 graduate of Maumee High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Chrysler for 30 years, retiring in 2000, at the Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio. Fred enjoyed traveling (especially his 16 cruises), Cedar Point trips, coaching and collecting sports memorabilia. Most of all, he loved his dog Johnson, his family, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Christmas, in that order.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy; sons, Paul and Jonathan (Cindy) Kurtz; daughter-in-law, Kim; grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas, Adam "Beeb" and Christopher "Critter'; sister, Mary (Craig) Moench. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher; and nephew, Michael Moench.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, Ohio. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 with the funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio Interment will be in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Life Connections, 3661 Briarfield Blvd., #105, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Online condolences may be given at:

So sorry to hear about Fred. He was one of my brother Peter's best friends during their school years. I was slightly younger but was still permitted to pal around with them from time to time! My family and I always enjoyed Fred's Christmas displays. May God rest his soul and my sympathies to his family.

Good bye to my. Big brother Fred who teased me all the time, but had my back at all times he was my protector when I was young. He could pick on me but anyone else forget it. Always had to make me laugh if I was sad that was his mission. You could always make me cry to. And that's what your doing to me now. Fred you are up with my michael your godson please keep an eye out for him and if you see mom and dad a big hiug. I no, believe meI am going to miss you more then I thought. it just is not the same already say hi to all.I love you forever.your lil sis Mary
