Paul Lakin, age 75, of South Weymouth and Chatham, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, in the comfort of his loving family.

Paul was born in Cottingham, England, to the late Doreen (South) and William Kenneth Lakin. Raised and educated there, he was a graduate of the University of Manchester in England. Paul immigrated to the United States in 1975 at the age of twenty-six, settling in San Jose, Calif. and Kingston, N.Y. before coming to New England. He lived in South Weymouth for the past thirteen years, previously in Quincy for twenty-five years. Paul was also a summer resident of Chatham since 1991.

Paul worked as a computer engineer for IBM for twenty-five years.

He was an avid wind surfer, loving the Chatham beaches. He also enjoyed boating and fishing and as a younger man was a mountain bike rider. Paul was a gourmet cook, gardener, and had a special interest in astronomy. He loved hiking with his two dogs, Harry and Rusty, and road tips up and down the East Coast.

Most of all, Paul was devoted to his family and friends.

Beloved husband for thirty-three years of Margaret N. (Norton) Lakin.

Devoted father of Jeffrey Lakin of Kingston, N.Y.

Close friend and brother-in-law of Frank Norton and his wife Claire, Carol Bailey and her husband Jim, all of Hingham, Kathleen Hunter and her husband Ed of Braintree.

Dear brother of Noel Lakin and his wife Antje, Veronica Spibey and her husband John, all of England.

Memorial Funeral Services will be conducted at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Monday, September 8, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial Visitation prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m.
