May God comfort and bless the family of Paul. Although I did not know him, I know and love his mother, Florence. May our Heavenly Father be near you all in this very painful time, and hold you to His Heart.

Florence: I am so sorry for your loss. I also feel bad that Paul & I never hooked up on my visits back to NLR. Ironically, I happened to be in town recently and drove by your house on Moss Street, hoping to find someone home so I could locate Paul. That was on Saturday, the day he died. I had to return home yesterday but did get by the funeral before I left. Most of the way home, I got lost in so many fond memories of Paul & I growing up together. He was my best friend from 1st grade through 12th. Your house was the only one where I slept over. I’m sure you can recall those Saturday’s where I, on the guitar, and Paul on his drums made enough noise to drive you and the neighbors crazy. Thanks for putting up with us. He & I had a fun summer job together working at that appliance place on Pike Ave. It was during one of our “re-po” visits that we came upon a house of a very poor family in rural Arkansas that is forever etched into my memory. We both walked away from that scene a little upset and I recall writing a paper about in senior English class at CHS.

I've thought of Paul often. There are certain songs on the radio that remind me of our growing up time together. Certainly any time I see a ’55 Chevy, it is an instant trigger for me. I hope it was ok that I left one at his side when I visited him Monday. We certainly put a few miles on that thing crusin’ Burns Park and the Sonic Drive-In. I remember Paul for his talent, his smile, his thoughtfulness, and his good natured attitude. Even though I haven’t seen him for over 20 years, he was close to my heart and I will miss not having the chance to re-live some good childhood memories. He probably never knew that I looked up to him.

Paul and I only knew each other about 6 months. I met him when we were working as temporary employees at the VA at Fort Roots. We became close friends because of our temporary status among many permanent employees. Paul had a great personality and made friends easily.

Most of all I will always remember Paul's impish and infectious smile. When Paul and John saw each other, they loved talking cars. I guess Paul could fix or build anything. I love all my cousins dearly and I will miss Paul so much.
