Paul Mervine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2024.
Paul Harry Mervine, 86, of Greenwood, Delaware, and Brooksville Florida, passed away on January 5, 2024 at home surrounded by family and friends that became like family, in Brooksville, FL. He was born on April 4, 1937, in Milford, Delaware. Paul was an easy-going person that loved meeting people and enjoyed sharing stories. He had a wanderlust ingrained in him from his childhood, traveling from the Delaware Water Gap Mountains in the summer to various places in Florida in the winter. Paul was always on the move, making new friends along the way. He throughly enjoyed boating up and down the east coast. Followed closely by his love of traveling in his RV from coast to coast. Paul loved tropical cloud formations and enjoyed watching thunderstorms build all afternoon.

In Paul's nautical world, this is the time up north when boats are winterized and shrink-wrapped in white, just waiting for warmer climates. We like to think of Paul as all wrapped and ready to be received on the warm shores of Heaven, where he is sailing FREE.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lucy, and his sons Mark Mervine (Stephanie) and Stephen "Jay" Mervine (Polly). He was a proud grandfather to Blake Mervine, Stephen Mervine (Kelly), and Master Sergeant Myles Krischel (Kristina). Paul is also survived by his sisters Catherine Mervine Isaacs and Joann Mervine Collins as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold Mervine and Mary McVey Mervine, his wife Dorothy Melvin Wothers Mervine, his brothers Harold Mervine, John Mervine, James "Pete" Mervine, and his sisters Mary Mervine Melvin, Lou Mervine Hatfield, Betty Mervine Snyder, Awilda Delphine "Tootsie" Mervine Millaway Reed, and his daughter Mary Alisa Mervine Krischel.

Paul attended Greenwood Elementary and Greenwood High School graduating in 1955. He furthered his education at Allentown Wesleyan Bible College. Paul served in the Army for three years, on active duty, stationed for some time at Fort Sill near Duncan Oklahoma and then continued his service in the Army Reserves. One of Paul's favorite pictures is of all 3 of his children in military uniform and serving the USA with distinction. He was a proud father and grandfather.

Throughout his career, Paul fell in love with boating and enjoyed working in boat building. He also worked at Mervine Poultry Company, Nanticoke Homes, Inc., and held various woodworking jobs. Additionally, Paul worked in new car sales and was a licensed Health Care Administrator in the state of Maryland.

Paul worshiped at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church. His hobbies included boating, trading cars, motorcycles and recreational vehicles, camping, and taking walks around a golf course, sharing stories as he played.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Brooksville Wesleyan Church Chapel on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brooksville Wesleyan Church Outreach Ministries in Brooksville, FL.

Brewer and Sons in Brooksville, FL, is assisting with the arrangements.

Mark and Jay, I´m very sorry to learn of your father´s recent passing. I met him at one of his and my mom´s classmates (Ruth) funeral a few yrs ago. I heard today through another classmate (Nelson) and shared with my mom. It´s so hard losing a parent. Prayers for comfort during this time! Kim Baker Christie
