Paul B. "Bunyan" Newhart Jr.

Paul "Bunyan" B. Newhart Jr., age 56, of Montrose (Rush Twp.), Pa., passed away Sunday night, Oct. 13, 2013, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., after an illness.

Paul was born on June 7, 1957, in Montrose, Pa., the son of Paul B. and Valerie Ruhf Newhart Sr. of Middletown Center, Pa.

He worked in local stone quarries for Jerry Johnson Stone, Power Stone and Diaz Stone for a number of years.

Paul loved to be outdoors, especially hunting and working with his flower garden. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also adored his dogs. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

Besides his parents, Paul is survived by his son, Paul B. Newhart, III (Jessica Muller) of Philadelphia, Pa.; his daughters, April Wuethrich (Kent) of Sugar Run, Pa., and Crystal Conner (Mark) of New Albany, Pa.; his grandchildren, Madison Hebda and Zackery Wuethrich both of Sugar Run, Pa., Joseph Stroud, Allison Newhart, Luke Conner and Mya Conner all of New Albany, Pa., Tierney Newhart of Springville, Pa., Jenna Newhart and Karisa Newhart both of Oxford, NC; his siblings Ed Newhart (Doris) of Kirkwood, NY, Polly Bates (Gordon "Woody") of Stevensville, Pa., Emma Sobonski (Tom) of Friendsville, Pa., Diane Bates (Kenny) of Camptown, Pa., Karen Fitch (Mark) of Springville, Pa., David Newhart (Debbie) of Middletown Center, Pa., and Elisha Newhart of Middletown Center, Pa.; his stepchildren, Jeremy Kuntz of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Jamie Kuntz Shave of Hallstead, Pa.; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Mc Neal Newhart on May 8, 2007.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at the Rush Center Memorial Park with Rev. Pat Newhart officiating. A private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.
