Paul Francis Pawlowski

Paul Francis Pawlowski passed away on March 14, 2023, at the age of 81 in West Orange, NJ.





Services will be held in the Chapel of Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, on Saturday, March 18, at 10:30 AM. Condolences may be left at proutfuneralhome.com.





He loved and was married to Katherine Pawlowski (née Coulter) for fifty-four years, was a dedicated father of four, and a loving grandfather of seven.





Born in January of 1942, Paul was a lifelong resident of Jersey City, witnessing the town's long dramatic transformation firsthand. He embodied the proud, yet humble, ethos of "they just don't make them like that anymore."





After serving in The United States Navy, Paul worked at General Dynamics in Avenel, NJ for more than 32 years assembling electric motors that helped drive America's nuclear-powered submarine fleet. Throughout his career he was a proud member of the United Auto Workers union.





A true believer that "all politics is local," he was elected to committeeperson and served his local ward in Jersey City Heights for many years. He was proud of the difference he made in people's everyday lives by championing projects that improved the health and safety of his neighborhood.





He instilled persistence and a strong work ethic into each of his sons as well as a love for spending time outdoors, in and around New Jersey's bodies of water. He led many trips "down the shore," on crabbing expeditions dotting the Jersey coastline, including excursions in small barely seaworthy vessels on the Hudson River.





Paul's humor and gratitude for even the smallest of blessings will be missed, but his spirit will carry on. He is survived by wife, Katherine, sister, Patricia, sons, Paul, Brian and John, daughter, Karen and grandchildren, Zach, Gabby, Jack, Hudson, James, Charlie and Teddy.





In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Paul's name.
