Portland - Paul Lawrence Rathe passed away unexpectedly in his home in Portland, Maine on Friday August 29, 2025 at the age of 64. He died due to cardiac and respiratory health issues. He was born 10/21/1961 in Colchester Vermont.

He was predeceased by his parents Louis Phillip Rathe and Suzanne (Tougas) Rathe, his sisters Louise Rathe and Joanne Rathe Bemis, and many Aunts and Uncles. He is survived by his brother Armand Rathe and his wife Laurie Marshall Rathe and his Aunt Jacqueline Rathe Plourde, He is survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews and close friends that were like family to Paul.

Paul grew up in Colchester Vermont graduating from Colchester High School in 1979.

Paul moved to Miami Florida at 18 years old. He worked in the hospitality industry including Marriott for many years and enjoyed it immensely. He at one time owned and managed his own 10 unit apt building in Miami. He also lived in North Carolina for a short while. Paul was a people person. He made friends easily. He had a love for beaches & sunshine. He walked and enjoyed the beach everyday he lived in Miami. After visiting Portland Maine in 2015 he chose to live in Portland. His love of the ocean continued and he visited many Maine Beaches with Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth being his favorite.

He will be missed dearly.
