PAUL FRANCIS REILLY

October 17, 1956 - December 15, 2022 ROCKLIN, CA ? Paul Francis Reilly, age 66, of Rocklin, died suddenly at Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Roseville, California on December 15, 2022.

Paul was born on 10/17/56 to Dolores and Philip J Reilly at the Itami AFB Osaka, Japan during his father's service as a flight surgeon. He moved with his family to Sacramento, California in 1957, and lived an adventurous youth roaming the banks of the American River and Ancil Hoffman Park, along with a motley crew of brothers, cousins, and friends. In his teen years, Paul became an accomplished, self- taught mechanic. His projects included refurbishing Fiat sports cars, and he turned more than a few heads cruising Carmichael in his 1956 Pontiac Star Chief ambulance. Financing for his projects was earned evenings at Donovan's Corner, & at neighborhood favorite Serritella's Pizzerria, with best friend Rick Chiodo at his side.

Upon graduating from El Camino High School in 1975, Paul moved to Fresno where he attended college, and was a dedicated employee at Cyndi Pools. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and, following a successful 30 year career as a Senior Transportation Engineer at CalTrans, Paul retired to begin his own engineering firm, Advanced Pool Engineering. His creative skills were always in demand, and he generously mentored many colleagues over the years, remaining productive to the end.

Paul and his beloved wife, Suzi Hoyer, were married in 1986 and lived 35 dynamic years together in Sacramento and Rocklin, where they raised three beautiful children: Christian, Caitlin, and Cassandra. They enjoyed travels throughout the US and Europe, as a couple and as a family, but Paul was happiest spending time with extended family at the home he called "The Rock". All were welcomed in their home, and it stands as a beautiful tribute to his talent, skills, and unwavering drive.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, his brother Philip, and sister Deirdre. He is survived by his wife, his children, siblings Chris, Seana, Mary, Tom (Bridget), and Conn, numerous nieces and nephews, along with the many cousins throughout the country who loved him dearly and share our loss.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home at noon on Saturday, March 18, 2023 . In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Placer SPCA, https://placerspca.org/support/donate/.
