Rochester - Paul was born on August 11, 1952 in Rochester, NY and died on November 21, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV after a 3 month-long struggle. He was a longtime resident of Raleigh, NC, a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp, and a 36 year employee of Henry Wurst Inc. printing company, starting as a pressman and rising to manager of Customer Service and Sales. He is predeceased by mother Lorraine Powell and father Thomas A. Rice and also Mary Vrooman and Marie Rice, step-father Stephen Powell, brother-in-law Bob Joyal, Kenny and Ron Mayl, nephew Brad Thomas Troendle. He is survived by his loving family, wife Josephine (Jo) Costanzo Carpenter, sons Robert John, Justin (Olivia), Sean (Jayne Matricardi) Burke, Michael and Mark (Lisa Leahy) Carpenter and five grandchildren, Cameron, Nicole, Finn, Theo and Lucy. He also leaves behind brothers Thomas Jr. (Sydney), Danny and sisters Jackie Joyal, Debbie (Ray) Eck, Margaret and Michelle and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles as well as his extended Costanzo family in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul was a romantic and had a passionate love of rock music and enjoyed playing guitar with his Raven Pointe band buddies, frequently recording many of their songs. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football especially as well as concerts, auto racing and getting together with neighborhood friends at the pool. Paul was congenial, kind, loyal and generous with his time and possessions. He had a strong work ethic, a great sense of humor, and will be remembered most fondly for his unfailing, bright smile. He will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Millbrook H.S. Paul was a wonderful person and a good friend. We lost touch over the past so many years, but I thought of him and Jo many times. He had such a great range of musical interests - I enjoyed sharing new bandds and new music with him. During our 10 years of working together, he was one of a small handful that invited me into their home and their lives when I was in town, and as someone who always travelled or worked remotely, that meant the world to me. Jo, I am so sad for your loss. Rest In Peace my friend.

Paul was the first friend of my husbands I met. That was 48 years ago. We had so many fun times together, from Christmas times with the kids, to parties, to weekends spent together and to just hanging out. I will Miss you Paul and will always Love you.

Paul was such great fun when he and Jo came to our parties in our inhome Irish Pub in Cary. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit. Tom was happy to officiate at his wedding even during a hurricane. Good memories all!
