I Googled Fr. Robb and just learned of his death. Mr. Robb, SJ, was my Geometry teacher at Loyola Academy in 1954 and I later had contact with Fr. Robb when I was a Trustee of Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He was an inspiration to me in high school and I have always had fond memories of Paul V Robb, SJ, and his confidence in my math aptitude when it needed a boost.

All those years and I still journey on the fuel of ISL. What a gift Paul has been in my life and in the life of so many. His humanity was his richness. May he rest in peace. Maura

Fr. Robb was a good friend of my mother's brother, John Coulup, growing up in Vincennes, IN. While visiting over Thanksgiving, 1960, Fr. Robb administered to me the sacrement of baptism at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. I have been told that I was the first baby that he baptized.

Paul was a light on my journey in ISL 1980-81, a light that continues to show me the way. His wisdom was one of the greatest gifts in my life.

Paul Robb had a deep impact on my formative years in Chicago. As a participant in the Spirituality Institute in 1973 at the Longwood Cenacle, I was fortunate to participate in classes he taught on the relationship between sprituality and psychology. His words from those classes are with me today. I am grateful for his wisdom, care and humor.

Through this wee note I do honour the late Paul. In the academic year 1984/1985 I had a privilege to be a student at ISL in Chicago. His presence and teaching there was that of a giant. For me personally and my fellow students, I reckon, a wonderful, lifegiving blessing.
May the Lord give HIM the fulness of life. Dear Paul, thank YOU and dziekuje!

Paul was a wonderful mentor in Ignatian Spirituality when I was in theology in Chicago. He really encouraged all of us to go deeper and he was a big part of my process of being ordained. Later, when I worked with him on the Province staff in Chicago, he was always humble and kind. May he rest in peace!

Paul was the frist person I spoke with when I was thinking about a possible vocation to priesthood and the Jesuits. That was 1963 when he was a newly ordained priest. In 1971 Paul preached at my First Mass. In the following years Paul became a mentor as I studied Ignatian spirituality, spiritual direction, and began the formation of laity as spiritual directors. He introduced me to his colleague and friend, Sr. Suzanne Zuercher OSB, who became my spiritual director for more than ten years. His founding of the Institute of Spiritual Leadership in the 1970s led to the renewal of men and women from literally all over the globe. His holiness and humanity became beacons of hope and courage for countless others. Now his own holiness and hope have led him to eternal life. As he was dying, he said: "Jesus of Nazareth will present me to the Father."
With deep gratitude and affection,

For over forty years at different times Paul Robb has been my professor, my spiritual director, fellow community member, and close friend. In praying about Paul I realized with great appreciation that I learned the foundations of the Spritiual Exercises, how to be a spritual director, and to give directed retreats from Paul. Much of my life, my teaching, and my ministry have deep roots in "PV." I grew tremendously humanly and spiritually through my time with Paul. I am especially grateful that I learned to be free--free to say and do what the Lord asks through the "Ignatian discernment of spirits."
Our small community at the Jesuit School of Theology [JSTB] was a fabulous experience of Jesuit brotherhood. We regularly had many guests for dinners, parties, and other celebrations. Another very close friend, Sr. Irene Dugan, r.c., was often with us and I met her through Paul.
Paul came to my ordination, final vows, "Mid-Century Party," and we regularly met for dinner when we were in town. PV was and remains a great gift and blessing in my life. I owe him much of who I am as a Jesuit, a spiritual director, and a human being.

Paul Robb provided good counsel to me in high school and continued beyond my college years, married my wife and me, and later lost touch.
I remember him warmly as a mentor, friend, and kind, intelligent, and unusually open-minded man in a time and role when that was exceptional. Knowing him was my good fortune.

As director of our ISL program, as friend and priest, Paul has inspired my work as a psychotherapist. I repeat his words in countless sessions, knowing that his reward will be even greater from the Giver of Life. Thank you Paul - I look forward to meeting you in the New World. Ad majorem Dei Gloriam et Dei Genetricis honorem.
