Paul Robertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2010.
CARIBOU - Paul Leo Robertson, 52, died March 17, 2010, surrounded by his family at his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Oct. 28, 1957, in Caribou, to Joan Romo and the late Dale Robertson. Paul attended Caribou schools and the University of Maine at Fort Kent for criminal justice as well as Northern Maine Community College for masonry. He taught in the Caribou school system, was a coach for the boy's varsity high school soccer team and a coach for New Sweden Little League. Paul was the owner of Robertson's Construction and Masonry, and Robertson's Apartment and Cottage rentals. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, traveler and snowsledder, but most of all made time for his family. He is survived by his wife, Kim of Caribou; three brothers and two sisters, Ann Hart of Goffstown, N.H., Susan Robertson of Caribou, Kenneth Robertson of Lawrenceville, Ga., Doug Robertson of Granbury, Texas, and David Robertson of Caribou; three children and two stepchildren, Jacob Robertson of Vermont, Samuel Roberston of Caribou, Hannah Robertson of Chicago, Nichole Kelley-Sirois of Hampden and Michael Kelley of Bangor; and four grandchildren, Caleb, Claire, Joshua and Gabriel. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, at Holy Rosary Church. A celebration of his life will be held afterward at Caribou Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, tribute account number 25805462, P.O. Box 1000, department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

To my beloved Robertson family - Kim, Paul and Kim's children, Joan, Kenny, Susan, Doug, David, and Ann, and all of your loved ones,

Joan, you are my mom and my friend, and I am so very sorry for the loss of Paul. You "adopted" me as a teen when I needed you most. I remember the first time I met Paul, in the winter after a huge snowstorm, how handsome and strong and kind he was. I have fond memories of meeting Kim, and playing with Susan's children in Kim and Pauls' beautiful home by the lake. My deepest empathy, love, and prayers are with you all.

Love always,

Dear Robertsons,
My deepest condolences to all of you. You have lost a dear son, wonderful husband, loyal brother, loving dad, proud grandpa and I have lost a very special friend. It saddens me that I cannot be with you to share in your grief and to pay tribute to a fine human being. Joy comes to me though when I imagine he and his dad together looking down at us all. I am confident they are rejoicing in their rendez-vous and that they are back to the same routine of countless hours of storytelling and fabricating inventions which never came to fruition! As father and son, they loved those precious times together.
I am reminded of a poem by Langston Hughes:

I loved my friend.
He went away from me.
There's nothing more to say.
The poem ends as soft as it began-
I loved my friend.

My heart is with you all.

Dear Kim and family,
I can't begin to tell you how Paul has impacted our lives...he is probably the reason that we ended up in Maine and has truely showed us what 'Northern Maine' is really about. He was always a positive person and a man of true words. We will so miss him. Oh and Paul just in case you do read this...I know the fish did not fall out of the trees the night we all went fishing on Mad. Lake...we love you and we will always remember you!!!
love ya much!!

Dear Robertson Family,

It is with great sadness I discover the passing of Paul. I graduated from high school with Paul and although that event took place almost 35 years ago, my memory of him is so very strong and so very positive. At our 30th class reunion, a personal higlighht was finding Paul and Kim at their camp and just catching up. Strong in my memory is after my own Mom passed away in 1978, Paul, Mrs. Robertson and family, opened up their home to me and that's just a fractional example of the good guy Paul was. I could go on and on with many more. I will continue to relect on the amazing guy Paul was and please know, you're all in my thoughts and prayers
