Paul Sandrew
1915 - 2010 NEW LONDON, CT Paul H. Sandrew, 94, of New London, died Jan. 17, 2010, at Kindred Crossings East in New London.
He was born April 27, 1915, in Pittsfield, Mass., son of Samuel and Elizabeth Berley Sandrew. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rose Broverman, and leaves his wife, Carole Devlin Sandrew.
Mr. Sandrew was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was retired, having been the proprietor of the former Beacon Dry Cleaners & Laundry in New London. He was a member of Congregation Beth El, and was an active member of the congregation's Chevra Kadisha Committee. He was a member of the Beth El Men's Club, the New London Country Club, and the New London Lodge of Elks.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Dr. Stuart Sandrew and his wife, Phyllis, of Pittsfield, Mass., Dr. Barry Sandrew and his wife, Lori, of Encinitas, Calif.; a daughter, Sharon Feltser, and her husband, Michael, of Monterey, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Beal, and her husband. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a stepson, Jeffrey N. Goldblatt; brothers, Benjamin, Bruce and Melville Sandrew; and sisters, Rose Zalkind and Esther Levine.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. yesterday at Congregation Beth El, 66 Ocean Ave., New London, with interment following in Beth El Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the family home from 7 to 9 p.m., starting yesterday through Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Rd., Kensington, CT 06037; or to the charity of choice. The THOMAS L.
