Dear Mrs. Sharp,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My father, Carl McProud, often spoke of you with pride. If there is a Debate Team in Heaven, there is no question who will be on it.

Aunt Rose and Family,
Sorry to hear about the death of Uncle Paul. May God grant him eternal rest and may the perpetual light shine upon him. May God provide all of you with comfort and peace. Beverly and I will keep all of you in our prayers.

Aunt Rose, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. Betty always spoke so lovingly of her brother-in-law and really enjoyed the times y'all shared together. Just wanted you to know we were thinking of you and your family. Wish we could be there on Sunday.... Love, Stuart and Julie

One of the nicest people I ever met....I was chair of the Employee Executive Council in 1976, when I visited the State Capital, spoke with Governor Boren, and held a short news conference in support of higher ed funding. I expressed staff frustration at the lack of funding, and may have let slip that staff might consider forming an employee union. The next day, The Oklahoman and Oklahoma Journal both had front page articles saying that OU staff were considering a strike. President Sharp called me shortly after 8 AM, and ask "What's going on?" I told him I had been misquoted, and that my purpose was to highlight the plight of higher education. He accepted that, and I always admired him for his strong support of OU and higher ed in Oklahoma. Whenever I'd pass him on the sidewalk at OU in the ensuing years, he'd always stop and greet me and ask how things were going. He was a good person, and OU is a better place because of him.
