Paul Sloan Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 25, 2025.
Paul E. Sloan Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. A devoted Christian, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Paul was called home to be with the Lord after a life marked by faith, service, and love.

Born on September 26, 1938, in Bristol, Tennessee, Paul was the son of Rev. Carmon Groves Sloan and Ida L. Hughes Sloan. Raised in a home grounded in faith and guided by strong values, Paul carried those principles throughout his life. His unwavering devotion to God shaped every aspect of his journey and inspired all who knew him.

Paul proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and discipline that he carried into his professional life. After completing his service, Paul became a successful entrepreneur. He founded and led several ventures over the years, including Cellular World and Sloan Builders in Louisville, Kentucky. Through hard work and determination, he built businesses that not only supported his family but also contributed meaningfully to his community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Paul's greatest joy came from his family. He shared 63 loving years with his wife Carolyn J. Sloan-a partnership rooted in mutual respect and enduring love. Together they raised three children: Sherrie Weber (Tony) of Louisville, KY; Paul E. Sloan II (Samantha) of Fort Myers, FL; and their late daughter Teressa Chambers. Paul also maintained a close bond with his son-in-law Tony Chambers of Floyd Knobs, IN.

Paul was a proud grandfather to Tara, Tyler, Shelby, Travis, Shannen and Kimberly; and a doting great-grandfather to Brentley, Thomas, Josalin, Adalynn, Sydney and Greyson. His wisdom and warmth left an indelible mark on each generation.

He is also remembered fondly by his siblings: brothers Donnie (Debra) and Billy (Nancy), sister Becky (Mike), and was preceded in death by siblings Carmon, Ron, and Martha.

A man of deep conviction and quiet strength, Paul lived out his Christian faith through acts of kindness and generosity. Whether through church involvement or personal interactions within the community, he consistently demonstrated compassion and integrity.

Paul's legacy is one of steadfast belief in God's grace and the power of love to transform lives. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn requests that donations be sent directly to her so she may plant a tree and other greenery on their family property in honor of Paul's memory-a living tribute to a life well lived.

May Paul E. Sloan Sr.'s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of faithfulness, perseverance, and love.

We loved Paul so much. We have always had so much fun whenever we were with him before he got sick. He had a contagious laugh. He loved his family so much. We are thankful he is no longer suffering and is with his beloved Saviour now. Can you imagine how happy he was to see Teressa again? And of course Mamaw, Papaw, Carmon, Martha and Ron and all the other relatives and friends. What a glorious Homecoming it must have been!! Until we are with you again dear Paul, you will forever be in our memories. Love, Donnie and Debra
