Paul S. Stein

I first met Paul 3 years ago, when he moved to Pittsburgh and lived on my floor at the Raquet Club Apartments. Paul and I both worked out of our homes, so we frequently would run in to each other in the trash room. We used to laugh about this. Shortly after meeting Paul, we became very good friends. We shared long talks about his friends, family and especially his children. He loved his children more than life itself and Paul loved life. When ever I felt down in the dumps, I always knew I could run in to Paul at the Raquet Club after his workout. He would always lift my spirits and make me feel good. He was so good at that.I will miss the special times we had together ... baseball games, movies and dinners. I will miss his smiling face and his deep raspy laugh. I will miss his gentle kindness and loving heart. This is truly a loss to everyone. Paul, may you rest with God in peace. Your friend forever ... Penny

I just met Paul this summer. He touched my life in ways I cannot explain. He had a personality that attracted people to him. I feel so sad, that I did not have more time with him. I wish that I knew him the way Bill McGauffee did. Bill has so many wonderful memories of Paul. I am thankful that Paul was in my life. He spoke so fondly of his children and only wanted the best for them. I know they were the most important thing in his life. I hope as time goes on his children continue to live a life that would make their Father proud.

I had the pleasure of sitting with Paul in the Manny Weaver Gym last Spring and enjoying a conversation with him and his younger daughter. We were high school room mates.

I extend my sympathy to the family. May you find comfort in your memories.

Paul was my first friend in Harrisburg when I moved back there at age 9. We spent many hours playing box hockey, baseball, boxing,etc.in his basement, my home away from home. I'm shocked and deeply saddened by this terrible loss.

We met playing Little League Baseball for Finklestein's Cleaners, and then, Reily Hose, TOGETHER.

He wore Number Seven and was called PAULY, then STEINIE.

We walked the Halls of Camp Curtin and William Penn, TOGETHER.

We attended Shippensburg State, TOGETHER.

We pledged TEKE Fraternity, TOGETHER....PAULY became STINKY STEIN.

Following Graduation, we worked our first jobs in the Harrisburg School District, TOGETHER.

We grew, we partied, laughed and cried, TOGETHER.

Fridays, we socialized as the Pennsylvania Dirtball Association, TOGETHER...Paul was a DIRTBALL.

We played Basketball, TOGETHER.

When we got older, we reunited as the Uptown Roundball Reunion, TOGETHER.

Last May 16th, was the Twentieth Reunion, and YES, we were TOGETHER....that was the last time I saw Him...........

Paul was a member at the Oxford Athletic Club, as I am. We all loved him and will greatly miss him. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Our condolences go to the family and friends of Paul. Paul was a wonderful contributor to Central Pa as a basketball player, PIAA offical and family man. Paul will be missed. Sonny Crist
