Paul John Thompson was born on February 4, 1952 in Watertown, New York, the son of the late Lynn Erwin and Muriel Evon Maltby Thompson.
On April 8, 1972, he was united in marriage to Jane Virkler, who survives.
Paul was a lifetime member of the Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship International Organization. Since he came to live in Savannah in 2021, he was privileged to be able to worship at several churches.
Paul had been a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He had special friendships with many of his customers in Northern New York - the Watertown area. He was able to build the family home - and purchase and remodel, then sell 3 houses and then family home.
Paul had a Gospel Tent Ministry and was able to hold meetings in New York, Virginia, and here in Tennessee. He enjoyed helping people in need. Singing for the Lord was special to him - and praying for the sick was a passion that he had.
Paul John Thompson departed this life on January 23, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 19 days.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Thompson of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, John Thompson of Watertown, New York and Peter Thompson of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Jennifer Robin of Watts, Oklahoma; brothers, Ron Thompson of Bushnell, Florida, David Thompson of Bushnell, Florida, Dan Thompson of Ankeny, Iowa, and Mark Thompson of Shallotte, North Carolina; sister, Mary Thompson of Ankeny, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren, 5 in New York and 6 in Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Rawlings and brother, James Thompson.
