PAUL J. WAER

GOLIAD - Paul J. Waer, 90, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008 in Cuero. He was born June 29, 1917, and raised in Dobskyville to the late Paul Lewis and Sophie Marie Storbeck Waer.
He was a farmer and cattle rancher and a tractor-farm equipment mechanic. He worked for Krueger Construction of Victoria, Carroll Jansen of Yorktown, and Victoria Farm Equipment of Victoria. He was a member of Goliad Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Ander-Weser Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Victoria Gwosdz Waer (married Nov. 25, 1941); his sons, Joseph (Diana) Waer of Inez and David (Janet) Waer of Schroeder; his sister, Virginia Rose (Walter) Ward of Colorado; grandchildren, Mary Jean (Pete) Valdez of Houston, Donna Marie (Kevin) Davis of Cypress, Robert Wayne Waer of Fort Worth, Daniel Ray Waer and Ricky Lee Waer, both of Schroeder; his great-grandchildren, Joshua (Jannifier), Jeremy, Jonathon and Patricia, and newborn Joshua Moses Valdez Jr. (May 2008), all of Houston; numerous nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Ann Waer Hardt; and brother, Calvin Warren Waer.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home of Goliad Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m., today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fr. Ralph Baidoo officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery on Hwy. 237 W.
Pallbearers will be Roland Storbeck, Steve Storbeck, Ben Parma, Robert Waer, Daniel Waer, and Kevin Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Pete, Mary Jean, Joshua, Jannifier, Jeremy, Jonathon and Patricia Valdez, Donna Davis, Ricky Waer, and Joshua Valdez Jr.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ander-Weser Volunteer Fire Department.
