Having met Paul (and Gail) while in the training program at Wells ,1968 in San Francisco , I shortly thereafter found myself working for him in Recruiting at 464 California , 10th floor . That early experience was the beginning of a life long friendship . Our careers diverged somewhat , but always revolved around the banking business and lessons (and appropriate humor) learned from PMW . Recollections of Wats always achieve congruence around commitment , leadership , family , and his faith.
Paul was clearly a natural leader, commanding respect for solid integrity along with an impressive intellect and unfailing loyalty to those attributes that were important to him. . I miss him .
Kindest thoughts for the Watson Family .

Paul left a lasting impression on me. I worked with Paul in the 80's in San Francisco. He was a true leader with integrity and quite a sense of humor. He used to steal and hide my nameplate off my desk whenever he felt the need for a laugh. And what a laugh he had! My prayers are with his family. God's peace be with you.

Getting to know Paul and Gail from my many years at Wells Fargo made me a better person, father, and banker. My wife also had the privilege to work with Paul. He was tough, but knew when to be supportive. A career banker, who never mixed words on the importance of family and work/life balance before it was even coined. The world needs more people like Paul and my family has been blessed to know and work for him.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Watson family. We are sad to hear of his passing, but are rejoiced to see that Paul and Gail are back with each other...

I have many fond memories of Paul during my years at Wells going back to the 70's. I always appreciated his guidance and support. Besides being a strong ethical leader, he had a great sarcastic sense of humor and we shared many good laughs. My condolences to his lovely family. So Watson...I am glad you are now at peace...Flack

One of the greatest gifts of my professional life in banking before being ordained as an Episcopal priest was working with Paul. He was kind but tough. Had a keen insight and intuition. I have many stories of our talks on the phone and face to face. I so appreciated him, and am sorry he has passed. May light perpetual shine upon him.

I met Paul my first day with Wells Fargo in May 1968. He was later assigned to me as an advisor in a program matching people out of ones normal chan of command. Great guy. Very objective and insightful.

Paul Watson a great leader and inspiring person. I had the pleasure of working in one of many of Mr. Watson's groups at Wells Fargo Bank. Like they say he was one of the great ones!

Since 1955 PAUL has been a dear friend of mine and, since the night I met her, of my wife. Our adventures together -too many to enumerate - will always be remembered and our friendship still endures. He will always be in our hearts and in our prayers. Our love goes to Paul's family.

I have many memories of Paul at our time together at SI and USF. He was a great joker in school and later on hunting trips. Always the first with a tease, laugh, or practical joke. He had a wonderful outlook on life.
Just a great guy.
