Monticello - Paul Wiseman, 83, of
Monticello, Indiana, died on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 7:10 a.m. in the White Oak Health Campus of
Monticello, Indiana with his family by his side.
Paul was born on Sunday, March 10, 1940, in Jasper County, Indiana to Lonzo Wiseman and Agnes (Jensen) Wiseman. They both preceded him in death.
On November 23, 1958, at the Monticello Christian Church he married Sharon L. Welker. She survives They were inseparable and their love for each other shone brightly. Paul and Sharon would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.
Paul attended Fair Oaks schools in Jasper County until his family moved to Monticello to operate the Wiseman Ford dealership. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1958 where he played varsity basketball. He loved to share stories about their post season success in 1957. Paul's love for automobiles extended to racing his beloved Ford at many local tracks.
He was employed for 25 years as Service and Parts Manager for the Monticello Ford Dealership. Winning many awards for his service and performance by the Ford Motor Company. When the Indian Trails Career Center was being established, he was asked to set up the Automotive Service program and then taught for 20 years sharing his knowledge with students from several school districts. He enjoyed taking students to annual contests and every year took them to Carb Day with special access at the Indy 500. He also owned and operated Paul's Radiator Shop in Monticello for many years.
It was a blessing that in retirement they were able to spend 12 years wintering in
Sebring, Florida where they had many adventures and made many new friends. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the Sebring Race Track for their annual Grand Prix and Air Shows.
He was a devoted Dad and Grandpa and loved attending his children and grandchildren's sporting, music and academic events. Paul was a fan of Twin Lakes, Purdue and IU Sports, along with the Pacers, Colts, Bears, Cubs and White Sox. He was an avid bowler for many years bowling in Monticello and Sebring
Paul was an active member of the Monticello Christian Church for many years serving as a Trustee, Elder, Deacon and on several committees. He also attended the Sebring Christian Church and the Monticello United Methodist Church in more recent years.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at White Oaks for providing such special and loving care to both Paul and Sharon. Your support has meant so much to our family. Paul is survived by his wife, Sharon Wiseman of
Monticello, Indiana; daughters, Debbie (husband Jeff) Wert of
Monticello, Indiana, Brenda (husband Rich) Gardner of
Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Tim (wife Pat) Wiseman of
Huntsville, Alabama; granddaughter, Victoria Wiseman of
Huntsville, Alabama; grandson, Jake (wife Andrea Lobene ) Wert of Bear, Delaware; nephew, Brad (wife Christine "Chris") Wiseman of
Centerville, Ohio; and several cousins.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo and Agnes (Jenson) Wiseman; brothers, James H. "Jim" Wiseman and Gary Wiseman.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of
Monticello, Indiana.
Celebration of life service will be at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of
Monticello, Indiana with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating.
Burial will follow on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery.
