How sad I was to just learn of Paul´s passing. I have fond memories of sharing client matters with him when I was a partner at Sidley Austin in Washington DC and later briefing him on matters when I returned to Australia as Chief General Counsel of National Australia Bank. While always in awe of his intellect I will miss most his great sense of humour, a creative mind and just a thoroughly kind and wonderful man. Truly one of the greats.

Perhaps not my first memory, but a very early one was introducing Paul to our special needs grandchild, Julian, at a cello duet performance at our house in Sun Valley. Something about Julian's innocence and magic personality clicked with Paul. It was beautiful to see and it persisted over the following years.

On behalf of Pi Lambda Phi, please accept our sincere condolences on Paul´s passing. Hopefully, everyone who loves him will be able to be together to celebrate his life and share fond memories of him. Though I didn't know him, as a Pilam brother I know he was a man of character. Clearly, from his obituary, he was also incredibly accomplished and will be missed by many.
I've updated our records so that we will remember Paul again when our fraternity convenes for our annual gathering next summer in what we call our "Chapter Eternal Remembrance Ceremony." The names of brothers who have passed are read, candles are lit in their memory, somber fraternal prayers are recited, and beautiful songs are sung. It's our way of noting that although they are no longer with us in body, they are remembered.
Brother Mine Forever,
Kris Reiber

Rhea, please accept my sympathies on your loss of Paul. I know well how difficult it is to lose a spouse after being married for decades, but there are so many good memories for such a long time together. He had a great career and I wish I got to know him better. I do know he was always there for you.

My favorite memory of Paul, among many, was watching that tough guy totally melt after viewing the movie "Up". He was so deeply touched. It was fun to spar over politics with Paul but seeing his tears as this beautiful tale ended always stayed with me. That was a magical moment that captured how much heart he had.

Please give Rhea, Larry, Nancy, and all of Paul's friends our deepest condolences. I attended grade, high school, and college with Paul. We went to the same Sunday school. Ran in the same social circles and took the same history honors courses. We visited each other as lawyers. He wrestled on the floor with my now 60 year old son when my son was two years old. We recently tried to reconnect for a monthly Zoom meeting with old high school friends. He was smart, accomplished, kind, funny and generous. Auch a mensh.
