Paul Leroy Yerly, 80, of Spring Valley, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, with his family by his side. He courageously fought a long battle with cancer.
The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Paul will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 29, at Nativity of Our Lord Parish (St. Anthony Church). The Rev. Scott Potthoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation for Paul will be held Monday, at the church, from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services. The Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is honored to assist the family at this time.
Paul was born on July 19, 1941 in Spring Valley to Sebastian and Rose (Braida) Yerly. He married Rosemary Piano on December 31, 1980.
Paul served with honor in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. He owned and operated Yerly Construction Company along with his brother, John G. Yerly, since 1979. Paul enjoyed woodworking and remodeling projects throughout his lifetime and was still working until just a few weeks ago. He cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three children, Linda (Brian) Hancock of Scottsdale, AZ, Steven (Brandy) Yerly of McNabb, and Gina (Ryan) Ferrari of Spring Valley; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Tim) Rybarczyk of Spring Valley and Renee (Doug) Wozniak of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Alyssa (Kulpa) Guerrieri and Nate Kulpa (Megan), both of Scottsdale, AZ and Geno and Jacob Ferrari, Cade, Cole, Kierra, and Kennedy Wozniak, and Ty, Trez, and Bella Rybarczyk, all of Spring Valley; one great grandchilde, Gianni Guerrieri; six surviving sisters, Loraine Swords of Oglesby, Lucille Correll of Aurora, Anna Marie Brown of Hennepin, Lillian (Jim) Giordano of Peru, Donna (Pat) Lyons of Peru, and Jeanette (Rich) Rivara of Rt. 1 Arlington; and his faithful companion, Jax, a mini-Goldendoodle.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul’s grandchildren, Cade and Cole Wozniak, Ty and Trez Rybarczyk, Geno and Jacob Ferrari, along with Donny Yerly.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory can be directed to his family for a future memorial.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Sebastian, Raymond, Richard, Norman, and John Yerly; and six sisters, Lila Flannigan, Elaine Micheletti, Darlene Scheri, Norma Jean Moss, Pauldine Reynolds, and Rose Schweickert.
