Paula Gurrieri Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2024.
Paula Lee Gurrieri (née Hussey), born on December 19, 1952, in Beaumont, CA, embraced eternal peace on November 29, 2024, in Katy, Texas, at the age of 71. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of love, faith, and family devotion, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Paula was the beloved wife of the late John Roy Gurrieri, with whom she shared a life brimming with joy and laughter. Together, they created a home that was a beacon of warmth and kindness. As a devoted mother, Paula instilled in her children the values of compassion and resilience. Paula is survived by her sisters, Patricia Costello and Mary Ellen Smith, as well as her son, Neil Gurrieri III, carrying forward her legacy of hope and generosity.

Reunited in spirit with her husband John, her son Denny Whelan, and her daughter Lisa Marie Gurrieri, Paula also joins her parents, Bruce and Mary Hussey, who imparted the virtues of faith and perseverance that she embodied throughout her life. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends, where she welcomed all with open arms and a loving heart.

Paula's life was a celebration of love, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her memory will be a cherished treasure, and her spirit will continue to inspire her family and friends.

A service to honor Paula's life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Funeral Home in Mesa, AZ. A private family hour will begin at 8:00 am, followed by a public viewing from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Funeral Outside Mass Prayer Service, led by Deacon Don Crawford, will follow, concluding with a graveside service where Paula will be laid to rest alongside her husband John.

My mom lived through so much agony after the passing of my day and my sister. She tried to be "okay" but she never quite found her new path. Thank you to all who expressed condolences and/or came for her services. I can only hope she has been reunited with our family members. While I am sad that my immediate family has all passed, my mom is finally at-peace.
