Paula Jo Hurst

Paula Jo Hurst passed away quietly on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the age of 79. Survived by her daughter L. Kimberly Martines; sister Beckie Hurst (Mike Gutman); brother-in-law Kurt Schueler; and nephews Kory (Erin) Schueler, and Joseph (Alyssa) Schueler. Her sister Jennifer Schueler (née Hurst), and parents Paul Joseph Hurst and Roberta Wilson Hurst (née McKee) predeceased her.

Paula graduated from Colerain High School in 1962. She took various college courses that interested her at College of San Mateo, and completed many advanced certifications through her work as a Production Analyst with United Airlines. She grew up in Ohio, lived in Illinois and then moved to California in the 1970s. Paula once again found herself setting up a new home in Fernley, Nevada in 2011.

Paula enjoyed traveling, having visited England, Canada, Mexico and many of the U.S. states over the years. There was also a multigenerational trip with her mother and daughter to Hong Kong. Though, the most enjoyed destination by Paula was undoubtably the beautiful islands of Hawaii, which she visited many times over the years.

Paula was known for being outgoing and friendly to everyone she met. She enjoyed trying her hand at arts & crafts and home decorating, as well as baking for friends. She also was the organizer of most holiday parties with friends and co-workers, ensuring more than enough food was always provided.

One of Paula's greatest loves was animals. She found joy pet sitting her neighbor's dog and owned many pets over the years. Paula will rest peacefully knowing her two kitties are now living in the country with her daughter and her (daughter's) horses.
