DANBURY – Paula Louise Kelso, 51, of Danbury passed away at home Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.

Paula was born at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine on March 20, 1963, to Henry "Hank" Stillman and Alice (Blake) Sharfe. She attended Nathan Clifford Grammar School, Portland High School and graduated from Belmont High School Class of 1980. Following graduation Paula took a job as a cook at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. She met Mark Kelso in 1981, they were married in June of 1984 and they began a family shortly thereafter. She lived in Danbury for the past 20 years and resided in Northfield prior to that.

Paula was an avid reader and was a fan of Maeve Binchy. She spent countless hours solving crossword puzzles and word searches and also enjoyed tennis, gardening and flowers, especially lilacs. She loved to cook and had recipes, upon books, upon more recipes. She loved ladybugs and she also loved to listen to the wind blow her wind chimes around outside on her porch. She was an incredibly strong-willed and intelligent woman who could give you advice on anything. She pushed through everything life threw at her and was never one to give up. She was a very colorful person and never judged a book by its cover. Paula cared for many, as many cared for her. She was a strong mother and a stronger soul. She was a doting grandmother who lived for her grandson, her "Babyhead" Jonathan and, for the past two years, devoted all of the time she could to him.

Paula is survived by her son, Raymond Mark Kelso of New Hampton; daughter, Michelle Grace Kelso of Danbury; daughter-in-law, Jessica Marie Moses of New Hampton; grandsons, Mason Lee Dion and Jonathan Ray Kelso of New Hampton; older sister, Margert Allan of Westbrook, Maine; younger sister, Allison Stillman of Westbrook, Maine; and older brother, James Stillman of Augusta, Maine.

She was predeceased by her mother, Alice (Blake) Sharfe and older brother, Gregory Stillman, both of Portland, Maine; and her husband of 29 years, Mark Lewis Kelso.

Family and friends are invited to gather Monday, Jan. 19, from 5 to 6 p.m. at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King St. in Boscawen. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. in the Cremation Society Chapel.

I remember Paula being so bubbly when she was hanging around at our house in Canterbury years ago, she always had a smile. Life ended to short rest in peace.
