Paula was an incredible human, sensitive to the stresses in life of all whom she met. She touched the lives of so many in Old Saybrook, especially its children. This photo is from Family Day 2004. Your memory will live long in the minds of those many who knew you.

Dear Jim and family. I was once your neighbor when you lived in Monongahela, PA. I had two children Lydia and Nick. They were close in age to Jamie and Caitlynne. They would play together. Paula even would cut my husband's hair!! We loved Paula and love having you all as neighbors. We were sad to see you return to New England; where your family lived. So very sorry we lost touch with you and Paula all those years ago. We should have stayed in touch. We moved from Monongahela 5 yrs ago to Charlotte, NC retired and moved near our children and granddaughter. I recently saw Patty Labrasca and asked her if she had any contact with Paula. She did not but this week she private messaged me that Paula had passed away only this past February. I am so deeply sorry for your loss and sorry I never stayed in touch. She was a very special person and a wonderful friend. So glad to have known her and shared such happy memories! Bless you all during this very difficult time.....love, Colleen Cicci

Just on the few occasions that I have been in her presence and spoken to her on the phone, I felt warmth and positive feelings from her and I know that she will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. She was a bright light in this world. I send my deepest condolences. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

To our dear Caitlynne and her beloved family: you are all in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve and celebrate the life of Paula, who was clearly a true force in this world. While we were never able to know her, it's clear from Caitlynne that she was a kind, generous, and incredible woman; and her legacy lives on in the people she touched. Much love to all of you.

Mr. Palmieri and Family,
It's funny how time can make you forget some memories, but others are so vivid. All these years since middle and high school and I can still hear Paula's voice and have such clear memories of hanging around the kitchen table in your lovely home on Pennywise. You both were surrogate parents, maybe without wanting to be, to a lot of your childrens friends and I am forever thankful for that. It is still so strange to me how the people who leave such a positive impact on earth are taken far too soon. God bless Paula and all of your family. She is forever alive in our hearts and memories.

my condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the Palmeiri family. I'm so deeply saddened with the news of Paula's passing. we grew up in the same town and became very close throughout our high school years. I'm so glad we were fortunate to reconnect again in 2014. Paula was a very special person not only to me, but anyone's life she touched. she was always beautiful, inside and out. she was the most caring person in so many ways. she was always, always such an inspiration to me, including throughout her sickness. i find myself asking this question so many times - why do such horrible things happen to such a wonderful person? a question I will unfortunately never get an answer to. she will forever be in my heart. soar with the angels my dear beloved friend. heaven sure did gain a great one!! RIP Paula, my dear ......

My heart is crushed, and my spirit is broken. I'm not gonna kid anyone.. My love goes to the Palmieri and Burns families to the deepest parts of your grief and wh your joy if there be... that she is in a place of rest. What a gorgeous person Paula is, present tense, inside and out, and we all experienced it. Even though I'm miles away, and I have not seen Paula since leaving for Missouri to go to college, (and why?!) I longed to see her so many times. Didn't know where she was in reality, and didn't know who was the charming, fortunate man she called her husband, and didn't know her blessed and beautiful children. It's silly that our paths never looped back together. We spent so much time together, so many nights as sophomore's, junior's and senior's. We would skip home together holding hands and singing after class officer meetings at the McAlister's near Rt. 110. What a beautuful soul who loved unconditionally. Simply put, Paula was my best friend, my sanity, my "love," and the gentlest, and most affectionate soul I knew in high school years. I adored her. We sort of are distant family. That and Mr. Palmieri are the reason why I couldn't ask her to marry me (!!!) And still somehow I have to say "...goodbye Paula, I love you dear friend" knowing I've been absent. The pictures comfort me that Mr. Palmieri held the love of his life so well and so often. And that someone was there to hold her hand as often as you all did. I hope that her children will be comforted even though mum is away. I know the void is there, but she loves you infinity. Paula, hon, said with respect, you were the one who got me by, and who inspired me to any good thing I've ever done after you helped me 'survive' my high school challenges. All my love, lovely lady- Soar with the angels! Your the most beautiful among them, thank you for you!

Liz,
My heart breaks for you, your sweet sweet dad and your siblings and their babies. Your mom was such a bright light. As a young teacher when I knew you and your family I looked up to your parents. I am so sorry you have to live without her here but I know she is with you all and in you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
All my love,
