Paula Stocke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 3, 2025.
Paula and Paula met in 1997, and together they built a beautiful home on a small lake outside of Duluth. They enjoyed countless sunsets, canoeing, bird watching, and most notably, raising their 3 beautiful children- Cameron, Siri, and Jolie Stocke. Later they relocated to Mountain Iron to be closer to school and work.

Paula's greatest joy in life was her family. Their time together was filled with epic road trips, yearly adventures to the BWCA, Lake Superior Trail hikes, and daily neighborhood walks with Theo and Izzy. Paula and Paula rarely missed a school event or activity and fostered each of their children's passions and pursuits with unwavering support.

Paula weaved love and warmth into everything she did, including her career as a Social Worker. After receiving her Masters in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin, Superior, the majority of Paula's career was dedicated to working with children and families through St. Louis County Health and Human Services. She made an indelible impact on the community and was later promoted to Public Health and Human Services Deputy Director.

Paula is survived by her wife Paula Larson, their three children Jolie, Siri and Cameron; her sister Pam (Bob) Mudek and brothers Dave (Sue) Stocke and Dennis Stocke, along with beloved nieces and nephews. Paula was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Peg Stocke.

Everyone who knew Paula was touched by her infectious laughter, generosity, and the way she found beauty in everyday life. In the spirit of giving she chose to support medical education and research by participating in the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program. The kindness Paula brought into this world is rare and enduring, and we will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday May 31st at the Mountain Iron Community Center in Mountain Iron, Minnesota.

Paula left an imprint on so many hearts, may we all continually strive to do better in her honor. I wish I could be at the memorial in person, but I will be there in spirit and have purchased a tree in the Chippewa Forrest for her.
I send my deepest sympathies and prayers for solace and comfort to Paula, Cam, Siri, Jolie, and extended family as well as friends and colleagues who are navigating the duality of this loss and celebration of her life.
May Paula live on through our actions that lift one another up and spark curiosity and joy

Peace,
