She was a loving and compassionate mother and grandmother



SARASOTA, Fla. - Pauline R. Hayden, 99, of Sarasota, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota.

She was born Nov. 23, 1907, in Chicago, to William and Olga (Steinke) Wensch.

She married Edmund M. Hayden on Feb. 11, 1925, in Chicago. They made their home in Will County and ran the family farming-livestock operation until 1939, when the construction of the Joliet Arsenal forced their relocation to Woodstock. They continued to raise pure-bred Angus cattle until her husband's death in 1963.

She was a loving and compassionate mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Barnes of Sarasota; a son, Edmund M. (Dlorah) Hayden of Woodstock; eight grandchildren, Eric (Jan) Barnes of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathleen Daniel of Sarasota, Steven (Kathy) Barnes of Wilton, Calif., Julie Hayden of Broomfield, Colo., Suzanne (Bowen) Palenske of Hanover, John (Karen) Hayden of Woodstock, E. Matthew (Deborah) Hayden of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Amy (Brian) Holtkamp of Antioch; two stepgrandchildren, Matthew (Kim) Stone and Mark (Catherine) Stone, of Charleston, S.C.; her great-grandchildren, John and Ben Palenske, Jennifer Jordon, Sean, Paul and Christine Daniel, Nathan, Kassandra, Devin and Ryan Hayden, Jason, Katelyn, Riley and Cody Holtkamp, Autumn and Paiton Stone, and Zachary and Zoe Stone; two brothers, Robert (Donna) Wensch and James Wensch; two sisters, Ann Smith and Jean Steyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woodstock.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, would be appreciated.
